Jack Charles Hendrickson

JACK CHARLES HENDRICKSON July 6, 1936 - October 6,2023 Jack Charles Hendrickson passed away, peacefully at the age of 87, at his home on The Big Hole River. Jack was born to Charles and Ina (Sivula) Hendrickson on July 6, 1936 in Ironwood, Michigan. In 1941, Jack and his family moved to Butte, Montana, where he attended Grant Elementary school and Butte High School, and took great pride in being from Finn town. Jack was the middle child, falling between his older sister, Shirley and his younger sister, Crystal. They remained close throughout their lives. In August of 1959, he married Karen Casey, and they had three children together; Chris, Paula, and Amy. They later divorced. In 1983, Jack married the love of his life, Judy. Jack and Judy lived a beautiful life together in their home that Jack built on the Big Hole River in Divide. Jack worked for the Montana Power Company for over 30 years before retiring early and starting his own surveying business. Jack and Judy thoroughly enjoyed their early retirement together spending a lot of their time traveling with his sisters, Shirley and Crystal, and their husbands, Tom and Frank. Jack and Judy purchased a home in Green Valley Arizona, where they earned the label "snowbirds". Jack was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He gained many friends, through flyfishing, golfing, and skiing. He was a dog lover, and always had a furry friend following close behind. He was an avid fisherman, teaching himself how to tie his own flies and build his own rods. He loved teaching his children and grandchildren the ins and outs of the art of fishing. If you've crossed paths with Jack on the Big Hole River, you most likely heard him shout, "How's the Fishin'?!" His generosity, integrity, humility, and wisdom were just some of the gifts that he shared with his family and friends. His kind eyes and witty remarks will be missed by all who knew him. Jack is preceded in death by: his parents, Ina and Charlie; his son, Chris and his daughter, Amy Stewart; his brother-in-law, Tom Tognoli, and his son-in-law, Tom Powers. He is survived by: his wife and soulmate, Judy; his daughters, Paula (Ken) Kins of Winnemucca, NV, Kristie(Tomm) Goodan of Liberty Lake, WA, Jeanne Powers of Deer Park, WA, and Wendy (Clyde Schupbach) Hietala of Seattle, WA; his son in law, Richard Stewart, and his wife Sharon; his sisters, Shirley Tognoli, of Sunnyvale, CA, and Crystal (Frank) Peternell of Manteca, CA; grandchildren, Kody (Julie) Kins, Scott (Amber) Goodan, Kourtney (Loren) Hall, Kevin Goodan, Amanda (Tyler) Denny, Zach Cirullo, Hanna (Nate) Caldwell, and Anna Powers; his great grandchildren who brought him many smiles in his final years: Katie, Suzi, and Sophia Kins; Lance and Lucas Goodan; Cami, Calleigh, and Tatum Hall; Maylee, Jolie, and Junie Jack Denny; and Ellie Caldwell, along with two sweet babies on their way, Bodhi Hall and Charlotte Caldwell. He also leaves behind many great friends, including his lifelong buddies: Bill, Lennie (Lu), and Tom (Jeanne). A special thank you to Pastor Sarah Schilcher from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Dr. James Hueftle, and Highlands Hospice for all of your attentive care. A celebration of life service for Jack will be conducted in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Thursday, October 26th at 12 noon with Pastor Sarah Schilcher officiating. A reception will follow at the Front Street Station from 1 until 3 PM. Memorials may be made to the Big Hole River Foundation or to Trout Unlimited.
