John Joseph Bublich

Our Beloved and Dear Father and Grandfather, John Joseph Bublich, passed away Monday evening, May 8, 2023, at St. James Healthcare. He was born Tuesday, March 26, 1929, in Roundup, Montana, to Marko and Barbara (Vranish) Bublich. He attended Catholic schools in Roundup, Montana, and graduated from Roundup High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and was stationed in Germany for some time and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He met the love of his life, Marlene R. Bublich, while working in Great Falls, Montana. They were united in marriage in Roundup, Montana, on January 31, 1959, and eventually made Butte their home where together they raised five children. John worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a cable splicer for 33 ½ years, retiring in October, 1988. He was retired longer than he worked, which was a true accomplishment. He took great pride in his home and yard, and in the summer he stayed busy in his garden tending to his flowers. He also loved to decorate for the holidays. When one holiday was over, up went the decorations for the next. Yes, he already had his Fourth of July decorations up for this year. He was a jack of all trades, and there wasn’t a job he wouldn’t tackle. He would help out anyone, especially his family with whatever they needed, a lot of times without them asking. When his children were young, they lived in a basement on Dewey Boulevard, and he spent many countless hours and nights after work building and completing the upper level. Some of John’s favorite hobbies were camping, fishing and hunting, all of which he loved to do with his family. There were many family vacations that were had, and camping at Canyon Creek with his children was one of his biggest highlights. He had such a great love for his family, especially all his grandchildren and their many accomplishments. His world was centered around his family. John was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Bublich; daughter, Gaylene Erzinger; and son, John M. Bublich. He is survived by his children; son Bill Bublich of Surprise, Arizona, and his children, Chris (Lindsay) Santmyer and Jennifer (Manning) Wells; and daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Lee Earhart, and their children, Kreg and Clint; and Dana and Kevin McMahon, and their children, Ashley and Kennadie, all of Butte; son-in-law, Steve Erzinger of Firestone, Colorado, and his children, Kody and Makayla. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 18th, at 11 o’clock at Holy Spirit Catholic Church for both John Joseph Bublich and his son, John Michael Bublich. Their family will receive family and friends beginning at 10 o’clock, and a reception will follow in the church commons. Memorials in memory of John Joseph may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
