Nancy Kay Focken

Nancy Kay Focken was born June 17th, 1950, to Dolores and Hank Seiler. Nancy grew up in the farm community of Grant, NE along with her four siblings. Nancy lost her beloved mother in 1961 but was fortunate enough to be gifted a loving second mother in Meredith Seiler. She graduated from Perkins County High School in 1968 and went on to attend the GI School of Business in Grand Island, NE. Afterwards Nancy worked at TRW and the Lincoln County Extension Office in North Platte, NE where she met the love of her life, Darrel Focken. They went on to marry on July 7th, 1973 in Atkinson, NE and soon were blessed with five children. In 1986 she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and given only six months to live. Miraculously Nancy would survive two brain surgeries and numerous challenges with her health over her long life, but she would always persevere with a giggle and a smile. Nancy moved to Grand Island, NE in the early 1990’s to be closer to her sister where she lived independently & volunteered her time in the community. Moving closer to her youngest daughter some years later, Nancy spent time in Wyoming until eventually making Montana her home where she lived out her remaining years. The greatest joys of Nancy’s life were her children and being able to see all five of them grow up, marry and start families of their own. Nancy is survived by her children, Jay and Michelle Focken of Anaconda, MT; Suzanne and Anankan Thangaratnam of Las Vegas, NV; Tanya and Kevin Sisk of Fayetteville, PA; Alicia and Bradford McConnell of Lovell, WY and Darrin and Victoria Focken of Ephrata, WA. Her grandchildren Elizabeth (Richard), Dakota (Gabrielle), Nicholas (Kali), Alexa, Allison, Morgan, Ryan, Juliana, Daniel, Archer and Violet. Siblings David (Kathy), Annette (Mike), Jim, Kevin (Ruth) and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Nancy peacefully lost her battle on September 27, 2023 in Butte, MT. Funeral service for Nancy Kay Focken, age 73 of Butte, MT will be held on Monday October 30th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home located at 1800 Florence Ave, Butte MT 50701.
