William "Buzz" Williamson

With heavy hearts we are saying goodbye to our beloved cowboy, William “Buzzy” Williamson. Buzz passed away on Monday night at the Browning hospital with family by his side. Buzzy was born June 9, 1935 in Heart Butte, Montana to Henry and Edna (Rutherford) Williamson. He attended school in Heart Butte and Flandreau Indian School. Buzz came to Butte in 1950, lived with Gertie and Elliott Boggs and began working at Stauffer Chemical. Buzz married Joyce Nichols on March 31, 1955 in Anaconda and they began their life together, raising three sons, Bill, Ed and Jim. Buzz worked numerous construction jobs all over the state and received an award from Union Carbide for over a million accident free miles of over the road driving before his retirement. One of his favorite past time was taking Jimmy, Mike and Patty rodeoing every weekend. “Dad was not only my traveling partner, taking me to the Indian Rodeos across Montana, Canada and Washington, but he was also my best friend.” Buzz loved to watch his granddaughter barrel race. He loved going on trail rides with all his friends and especially his best horse, “Buddy”. Buzz was always up for adventure telling us, “bungee jumping was more exciting than bull riding!” Buzz is survived by his wife, Joyce Williamson of Butte, son and daughter-in-law, James and Becky Williamson of Kalispell, daughter-in-law, Susan Hossfeld of Butte, grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Chaz and Mariah Williamson, brother, Ozzie Williamson and his partner, Darlene Horn of Browning, his extended family, Rick and Linda Williamson, Edna Allison, Marvin and Janet Boggs and their children, Ross, Mikayla and Mandy, Alta Boggs and her children Eddy and Ang, Pat Boggs, Darrell Longfox, Mike Boggs and Lindsey Boggs as well as numerous other nices and nephews. He is preceded in death by two sons, Ed and Bill Williamson, his parents, and his brothers and sisters: Frank Boyle, Henry Williamson, Johnny Bow Williamson, Thomas Williamson, Earl Williamson, Gene Williamson, Gertie Boggs, Ethel Newbreast, Esther Pollock and Viola Berry. Buzz was an Indian cowboy, a fighter and a wild bull rider. ' Cowboys don't cry and Indians don't care.”
