Cecilia Benita Aguilar

Cecilia Benita Aguilar passed away peacefully Sunday, September 10, 2023 in Butte Montana, at the age of 83 with her daughter Felicia by her side. She was born March 16, 1940 to Jerome Hernandez Rojas and Maria Torres Rojas in Lemon Grove, California where she spent her childhood alongside her three siblings. She attended Helix High School and graduated class of ‘57. On August 1, 1959 she was married to Paul P. Aguilar, upon his discharge from the Navy they moved to Butte where they had their two children Paul M. Aguilar born February 2, 1960, and Felicia A. Aguilar born September 10, 1961. Cecilia was forever curious, taking college classes in psychology and a variety of other subjects, and often started conversations asking ‘what do you know about this?’ or ‘can you tell me more about…?’, striving to learn more about the world around her and build her understanding of others. Throughout her life, Cecilia shared this curiosity and love of learning with others. While her children were growing up, Cecilia was a teachers’ aid at Webster Garfield Elementary School, and in her later years she was a well-loved volunteer at Headstart. Cecilia was also an avid seamstress and baker. She was continuously creative, always working on one project while planning the next. She loved making cakes for her loved ones’ birthdays and decorating them beautifully. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Maria Rojas, her siblings, Fernando Torres Rojas, Julieta Walker, and Olga Higginbotham. She is also preceded in death by her husband Paul P. Aguilar and their son, Paul M. Aguilar as well as her beloved cat, Gizmo. She is survived by her son Paul’s partner, Debbi, and Paul’s daughter, Melissa Galceran and her spouse Robert, and Paul’s son, John Paul Aguilar and his spouse, Denise. She is also survived by her daughter, Felicia Aguilar-Korinko, son-in-law Michael J. Korinko, and their children WM Steven Aguilar and his partner J. Gillespie, Jessica Styler and her spouse Will, and Samantha Busso and her spouse Jorge as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relations. We love you to the moon, the stars and the sun and back! The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Cecilia on Saturday October 7th, 2023 at the Knights of Columbus at 224 West Park Street starting at 1pm. Please come and celebrate the life of a wonderful woman, share stories, see loved ones and enjoy some food with us.
