Diane Marie Jones

Diane Marie Jones passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. She was born on December 16, 1944, in Butte, Montana, to James and Connie Loughran, the eldest of six children. From an early age, Diane helped care for her siblings, developing a watchful and nurturing spirit that remained a lifelong habit of the heart. Diane graduated from Butte High School in 1964 and went on to attend Butte Business College. She began her career at Newbro Drug Company and later dedicated more than 25 years to the Montana Power Company, where she eventually retired. During this time, Diane met the love of her life, David Jones. They were married in August of 1983 and shared a true partnership built on love, laughter, and companionship. Together, they enjoyed camping, boating, and even tried their hand at raising chickens—an adventure they quickly discovered was more work than expected. In retirement, they embraced travel, spending winters in warmer climates in their motor home and making cherished memories along the way. After David’s passing in 2001, Diane carried his love and their shared memories with her every day. Affectionately known as “Auntie Di,” Diane was a gifted cook who delighted in making birthday cakes that rivaled the finest bakeries, making each celebration feel special. She had a passion for collecting cookbooks—her “bibles”—and loved adding her own creative touch to every recipe. Diane also had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dogs, Shadow and Penny. She found joy in collecting angels, unicorns, and praying hands, and took pride in her membership in the Red Hat Society. Ceramics brought her a sense of creativity and fulfillment, and she enjoyed spending time reading Harlequin Romance novels and watching her favorite programs. Above all, Diane’s life was guided by her unwavering love and devotion to her family. In her later years, Diane resided at Bee Hive Homes in Butte, where she formed meaningful friendships and embraced the many activities and outings offered. She especially loved playing bingo—and winning, which she did often, much to her delight. Her family is deeply grateful to the Bee Hive staff for the exceptional love and care they provided. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, James and Connie Loughran; her husband, David Jones; her brother-in-law, Steve O’Brien; and her niece, Angela Richards. She is survived by her five siblings: James (Nancy) Loughran of Craig, Colorado; Jeanne (Bob) Harris of Readfield, Maine; Marc (Beverly) Loughran of Cody, Wyoming; Mitzi (Dave) Richards of Butte, Montana; and Lois O’Brien of Fresno, California. She is also survived by her Uncle Bill and Aunt Barbara Conway of Rexburg, Idaho, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Bee Hive Homes and Trek Hospice for the compassionate care given to their beloved Diane. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Bee Hive Homes or Trek Hospice. Diane will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
