Farideh Gorji-Baradaran

Farideh Gorji Baradaran left this world on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Born July 15, 1940 to Ali and Robab Gorji Baradaran in Tehran, Iran she joined older sister Soraya and older brothers Hossein and Abbas. Sister Faeze and brother Mehdi completed the family a few years later. Farideh graduated from 6th grade. Her studies were limited due to poor vision not discovered till several years later. She adored her siblings, helping at the house. Farideh stayed in Tehran with her family until she married. On December 25, 1962, Farideh married Ahmad Karbassi in Tehran, beginning what would be a 54 year marriage. She accompanied Ahmad in Tehran as they moved a few times, finally settling next to her parents. Son Mohammad was born in 1964 and son Ali was born in 1972. The family was very active socially and made numerous trips to visit their combined large families in Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd. She was extremely kind, devoted to her religion, and always gave her time and donated to those in need. Ahmad worked in Tehran and they remained at the same residence until his death in 2016 after which Farideh relocated to United States to live with her sons. She lived primarily in Butte, Montana with son Ali and his wife Sarah. She enjoyed going to the library there, taking English lessons, and on Saturdays going to the Farmer’s market. She made several trips to Colorado to see son Mohammad and his family, wife Dana and grandsons Benjamin and Tavan. She also visited with Iranian friends in Colorado. Farideh attended various soccer and baseball games, piano/cello/violin recitals, school plays, and many more of her grandchildren’s activities over the years in Colorado. She continued traveling between Colorado and Montana to spend time with both family and friends. Farideh is survived by her sons Mohammad (Dana) of Niwot, CO; Ali (Sarah) of Butte, MT; grandchildren Benjamin and Tavan of Niwot (who affectionately called her Maman Bozorg); sister Faeze and brother Mehdi of Iran; and brother-in-law Mike Karbassi of Fresno, CA; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Farideh was preceded in death by Ahmad, her parents, other siblings, and in-laws. Burial has taken place, and an outdoor memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday July 15, 2023 (Farideh’s birthday) in Butte, MT. Always kind and social, yet also devoted to and proud of each member of her family, Farideh loved each of us very much. She made sure we knew this by her words, smiles, deeds, and phone calls. She was the best of us all.
