Julie Mae Keenan

Julie Mae Keenan, 84, of Butte, passed away peacefully after a day surrounded by Family and Friends on April 17th 2026. Julie was born July 6th 1941 in Valier, MT. She was the 3rd of 10 children born to Maurice and Geraldine Christiaens. While attending nursing school in Great Falls she met Robert (Bob) Keenan, the couple later married on May 13th, 1961. In 1966 they moved to Butte, and in late 1967 their prayers were answered and they were able to adopt their daughter Tina and bring her home in January 1968 making their family complete. After many years of proudly serving as a surgical tech, she and Bob opened Keenan’s Quality Interiors where they sold beautiful flooring until they retired in 1999. After retirement Julie enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren as well as playing Bridge with friends as a member of the Marie Jolley Bridge Club where one of her proudest accomplishments was receiving her Life Masters status. If you asked Julie what her greatest blessing was in her life, she would proudly say “Tina! She gave me the most beautiful family” Her 3 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids brought her so much joy and filled her home with so much love and laughter. Julie gave her family and friends so many memories to carry with them, from playing card games and bingo, to hosting family reunions, she adored her large family so much and will be missed for her warmth, laughter and the way she brought everyone together. Julie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tina and Mike Cupp, grandchildren, Kasie and Cody Stevenson, Tony Troglia, and Cameron Cupp, Her great-grandchildren, Gaige, Sammie, and Ryker Baker and Tanner Troglia, her siblings Jan (Nick) Smith of Helena, Dan (Bev) , Bill, and Jim Christiaens and Nancy Hanson all of Butte, Marsha (Danny) Aarons of Louisiana, sister-in-law Linda Christiaens of Butte and numerous nieces and nephews. She is Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her mother and father-in-law James and Florence Keenan, her brothers Chris, Vernon, and Melvin Christiaens, her sisters-in-law, Phyllis Christiaens, Joyce Moriarty, Janet Morgan, and Sue Miller. Services are scheduled At Abundant Life Fellowship on May 2nd at 11:00 am with a celebration of life luncheon to follow immediately after at the Front Street station. Julie’s remains have been cremated and will be placed with her husband Bob during a private family ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Albert’s Angels fund to help shelter animals find homes as Julie had homed so many animals in need. The family would like to extend a Thank You to Julie’s many doctors, St. James healthcare, her niece Theresa and the staff at Copper Ridge Health and rehab for providing Julie loving care for the past few years, and Virginia, Katelyn, and Deena from Honey Bee Hospice for providing excellent care and compassion for the last stage of her life bringing much comfort and peace to our family.
