Julie Ann Stahnke

Julie A. (Boyd) Stahnke, of Butte, MT, passed away at the age of 69 on October 7, 2024. Our big hearted, blue eyed, beauty was born December 9, 1954 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Mary Jane and William Ross Boyd. She spent a majority of yer youth in Marion, South Dakota running amok, creating mischief and mayhem with her siblings (Mary Boyd, Jenny Unruh and Bill Boyd all of Sioux Falls, SD; Clem Boyd of Tea, SD; Bob Boyd, Randy Boyd, Sarah Dewald and Joey Dent all of Mitchell, SD). She also spent many summers in Beverly Hills, California visiting her beloved uncle bill, which created a lifelong passion for the ocean, travel, technology and learning. As a seeker of knowledge, she earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Transcription from Mitchell Technical School in 2009. She was so many things, a black belt and Sensei in ShotoKan, a gunsmith and business partner, a professional putzer, a wordsmith, a crafter, a dreamer, a rock hound, meatloaf connoisseur and overall foodie, pursuer of Powerball jackpot, a sweepstake aficionado, as well as a professional roast of Christmas lights, a general terrorizer of nurses…but in a good way and let us not forget, a streaker…Don’t Ask! She is best known for her storytelling skills whether its stinky kittens, toe nails and War chiefs, crocodile wrestling or just adding a little razzle dazzle to the most mundane event. She always said her biggest accomplishment was raising her four girls as a solo parent. April Stahnke and Melissa Jewell (Jason) of Montana, Angie Stirling (Wade) and Jeanna Weideman (Brandon) of South Dakota. She installed characteristics of integrity, kindness, hope, humor and love of animals… even though she wouldn’t let her kids keep the strays… yeah we called her out. Juju’s absolute pride and joy, more than her kids, were her eight grandkids and her seven great-grandkids. Maddison (Bentley, Miles Clover), Alivia, Tayha (Aceyn, Anakin, Tamera Lizbeth), Alyssa (Milo), Daniel, Mason, William and Chloe. In them she installed a love of reading and crafting, a fondness of old movies and foreign films, loud music and some…a lot actually, of mischief and humor. She was always cheering them on in academics, sports, other activities, and a life. We know she will continue to do so in spirit! We will greatly miss her smile, hugs, laughter, jokes, elaborate tales, unsolicited advice…and everything about her.
