Mary Janette Roggia

Mary Janette Roggia 20 MAY 1928 ~ 9 NOVEMBER 2022 (AGE 94) Mary passed away peacefully on 9 November 2022 at the age of 94. She always said that was the way she wanted to die, and God granted her wish. Each day she always woke up saying I'm ready to go but not today, just a little more time. Well today is the day, Mom. Mary was born May 20, 1928, in Renton, Washington, to Joseph Miller and Montana Irene Fogelman. She went to elementary school at Grant School, Butte, MT. She graduated eighth grade and received her GED in 1974. On March 14, 1945, she married Bruno D. Roggia in Butte. They were happily married for over 50 years. On April 23, 2000, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mary was famous for her cooking. Many were the days that large numbers of people would feast at her table. She also liked to paint, read, travel, and work in her flower garden, once she even earned a best yard award. She was renowned for her compassion, service to others, and friendship. She had a quick mind, was well informed, well-read always searching for knowledge up to the end never without a book in her hand, had a terrific memory. She always had words of wisdom to pass out. Her life stories of the past were put into a book “The Storybook Adventures of Mary Roggia”, by her granddaughter Charity Lovshin. She touched the lives of so many people in so many places and has given us so many memories that will live on. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Linda and Louis Lovshin of Butte, MT; son and daughter in law, Chaplain (Ret.) USA Richard and Cathy Roggia of South Jordan, UT; four nieces; three nephews; ten grandchildren: Shane Lovshin, Jared and Heather Lovshin, Charity Lovshin, Jason and Heather Lovshin, Rachael and Chris Svejkovsky, Aaron Roggia, Joy and Tyler Smith, Dean and Melanie Roggia, Cathy and Jason Twitchell, and Adam and Hayley Roggia; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved caring for her dear friend Jim Swan. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff of En Habit Hospice for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held on 14 November 2022, at 10:00am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Butte, MT. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
