Michael William DeShazo

Michael William DeShazo, born December 16, 1959 to Richard G. and Violette (Clucas) DeShazo passed away peacefully in Butte at the home he grew up in on August 21, 2021. Mike attended Monroe, East, and Butte High Schools where he met many lifelong friends who became family to him. During his childhood Mike participated in Boy Scouts and was able to travel to the Canadian Stampede with his troop. Regular fishing, hunting, and camping trips with family were a highlight of those years. He spent his childhood mostly outside playing with siblings, cousins, and neighborhood friends building forts, playing cops and robbers, and collecting marbles. He continued to search for and collect cases and cases of marbles throughout his life. His lifetime love of animals was nurtured by his mom and he always had pets who meant the world to him. During his high school years, Mike lived life as fast as he could. Some of those times will forever be remembered by those of us who were close to him. He was wild! We loved that about him. In 1982, Mike met his one and only, Lori Duran. Together, they made a family with her daughters Sara Duran, Martha Yochim and his only son who was his pride and joy, Michael John DeShazo. Mike was known and loved most for always being there for everyone for anything. Mike would drop what he was doing to help anyone. This quality is probably why he always had a group of family, friends and loved ones around him all of the time. It’s been said, “He wasn’t the kind of person you had to put up with. He was always a pleasure to be around.” He listened to everyone without taking sides. He gave his nieces and nephews a father figure when theirs were gone. He did this graciously and we all loved him limitlessly. He loved good music, time with family and friends, and doing a number of activities. Some of those include, pool, darts, horseshoes, folf, fishing, hunting, working in the garage, rock hunting, collecting antiques, metal detecting and digging for treasures, and bar tending at Bud’s Tavern. His passing was sudden and unexpected. He must have known that had he tried to say good bye, we would have tried to stop him. He left us with a smile on his face and that’s the way we will remember him. We will miss him and his company. He was a rock to many and his absence will change the way that many go about their days. Mike was greeted as he passed on by his parents, Dick and Vi brothers Ernie and Kenny, nephew Jimmy Andersen and close friend and brother-in-law Dick Andersen. We are sure that several of his aunts, uncles, cousins and close friend, John McIntee were also there. He leaves behind his son Mikey, daughters Sara and Martha, their mom and his friend Lori, grandchildren Lakelynn, Steven, Brittanya and Lilyann. Also missing Mike until we see him again will be his brothers Rick and Donnie and sisters Karen Andersen and Melanie House, and sister-in-law Marcia. His nieces and nephews Heidi, David, Peg, Allison, Chris, Buffy, Sunny, Jake, Brad, Kenny Joe, Jessica, Justin, Ashley, Angel, Aaron and Michelle will forever miss their Uncle Mike. His Aunt Helen and several cousins and friends will remember Mike for the generous, fun, loving, and faithful man that he was. The family will plan a service and share that announcement at a later date. In honor of Mike, it is suggested that you donate to Albert’s Angel Fund or any other charity. Until we see you again, we love you.
