Randall Thomas Wolfe

Randall Thomas ‘Randy’ Wolfe passed away Sunday March 15, 2026 in a Missoula hospital following a lengthy illness surrounded by his family. He was born in Anaconda on January 3, 1958 to Harold M and Janet (Mooney) Wolfe. Randy was the youngest of five children. The family lived in Mill Creek east of the Anaconda Smelter until moving into Anaconda in 1964. He attended W. K. Dwyer grade school, Anaconda Junior and Anaconda Senior high school graduating in 1976. Randy was a social person and had many friends. He had a difficult time after the death of his mother from cancer in 1974. During his mother’s sickness and after her death, Randy spent weekends, and summers staying with his older sister Dolores and her family on their ranch in Philipsburg MT. Randy had a special life long bond with Dolores and her family. In 1976, Randy had a contract to clean the campgrounds at Georgetown Lake and recruited the assistance of his sister Dolores and her children. Randy met his life partner James Engle in Helena. In 1978 they relocated to Los Angeles CA and spent 25 years together until Jame’s passing in 2003. Until the day Randy passed away, he mourned the loss of James. They worked for Café’ Café’ at Jose’ Eber’ 2-RODEO drive Beverly Hill CA. They met and served many celebrities during their employment. Randy and James enjoyed the social life, living just two blocks from Hollywood Blvd. Randy attended the Los Angeles Valley College and earned the degree of Associate in Science Respiratory Therapy including membership in the Los Angeles Valley College Chapter of the Lambda Beta Society representing his achievement of the highest academic excellence in the profession of Respiratory Care. Randy was employed at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles CA as a Respiratory Therapist for many years. He often related that the most professional satisfaction was working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and being part of a Life Flight Team. He related experiences about using his respiratory therapist skills as part of the care of premature infants, and the feelings of joy when the infants lived. In 2020, Randy made the decision and moved back to Montana. His decision was strongly influenced by his desire to be close to his sister Dolores’ family and their ranch. He chose to live in Lolo, close enough to visit the ranch, but far enough to keep his independence. He made many new friends in Lolo and enjoyed living there. He is survived by his sister Merrilan (Harold) Simper, brother John (Lorene) Wolfe, sister Dianne Cluff, niece Dee (Scott) Dunkerson, niece Rebecca (James) Sorensen, nephew Forest McClain (Tammy) and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his life partner James Engle, his father, Harold M Wolfe, mother Janet (Mooney) Wolfe, his sister Dolores Ann McClain, his brother-in-law George Wesley McClain, his nephew George Wesely McClain, his nieces Cheree and Jan Cluff. A private family Interment has taken place. A Celebration of Live for Randy will take place this summer. Memorials in honor of Randy may be made to St. Patrick House, 501 W. Alder, Missoula MT 59802.
