Terry Lane Semansky

Terry Lane Semansky passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 1, 1950, in Butte, Montana, to Frank “Monk” and Joan Semansky. Terry grew up in Butte, where she attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School. Shortly after, she married Duane Johnson, and together they welcomed two children, Kris and Jennie. Though their marriage ended, Terry remained a devoted mother and built a life filled with love and resilience. Over the years, Terry’s adventurous spirit led her to live in Oregon and Washington before returning to Butte, where she spent her remaining years. In Butte, she created a home that became a cornerstone for her family, filled with cherished memories. Known affectionately as “Aunty” by many in her extended family, Terry had a natural gift for making everyone feel welcome. She raised not only her own children but also her grandson Andy and her great-niece Maisa. Terry had a deep love for animals, particularly her dogs, and it gives comfort to know she is now reunited with them. Her quick wit, spirited personality, and undeniable “Semansky attitude” left an impression on everyone she met. Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Frank “Monk” and Joan Semansky; her siblings, Ed Semansky and Lynn Grice. She is survived by her children, Jennie Johnson and Kris Johnson; her grandchildren, Andrew Johnson (Brittney) with Calvin, Braydon, and Alaiya of Butte, as well as Evean Johnson; her brother, John Semansky (Lisa) and their children, Joey and Rachel; her sister, Diane Semansky Kondelis (Joe) and their children, Keri, Holly, and Bob Carpino Her nieces and nephews include Wendy Gilbert, Patty McGary, and Sharey Morris (Gary), along with Amanda, Daniel, and Sean. Great-nieces and nephews include Maisa Hennelly and her children, Essynce Nixon, Seven McGary, and Phoenixx Nixon; Tera Clark, Keyona Clark, Kelsey Bruha (Clay) with James and Khyra. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Continental Care and Rehab for their compassion and the love they showed Terry in her final years. Terry has been cremated, and a graveside service will be held this spring at Holy Cross Cemetery. Heaven has gained a bright soul, and while we will miss her deeply, we will always cherish her love, her spunk, and the many memories she created with all of us.
