Vernon Peter "Pete" Azure

Vernon Peter “Pete” Azure passed away at his home n Butte in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 30, 2024. He was born Sunday, February 10, 1952 at the Fort Belknap Agency in Harlem, Montana to Robert and Ramona (Bell) Azure. Pete lived in Harlem during his early childhood until the family moved to Butte. Some of Pete’s favorite memories were his visits to his grandparent’s home in Lodgepole, Montana on the Fort Belknap Reservation. He also loved spending time with all his aunts, uncles and cousins in Lodgepole, where he would ride horses, listen to stories and live the life he loved. In Butte, he attended the Webster-Garfield School and Butte High School where he met and married the love of his life, Terry St. Pierre. They had two sons, Justin and Owen and made their life-long home in Butte. During the Summers Pete like to spend most weekends up at the Flying Squirrel where he loved to get up early, drink his coffee, listen to music sitting by the campfire with his family whom he loved very much. Being there made him feel closer to his dad, who he missed dearly. Pete is now sitting around a heavenly campfire with his mom, dad, son, brothers, niece and nephew. Pete is survived by his wife of 45 years, Terry Azure, their sons Justin Azure and Owen Azure, his son from a previous relationship, Pete Zwicke and daughters Ramona and Pepita, brothers, Jack Azure, Ted Azure, sisters, Debby and Terry Norberg, Anne Bingham and Mary and Ed Dinius, his grandchildren, Mariah Azure, Hunter Azure and Mikenzi Azure who will dearly miss him. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, France St. Pierre, Sisters-n-law and brothers-in-law: Denise and bob Smith, Rick St. Pierre, Sheila and Mike Yerkich, Mark and Ann St. Pierre, Regina and George Tracy, Leah Crossman, Carolyn and Tom Larimie, Bill and Michelle St. Pierre, numerous nieces and nephews including his special niece, Tashina and his beloved pets, Pepper, Zippy, Churro and Teddy. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ramona Azure, his father-in-law, Richard St. Pierre, sister-in-law, Connie St. Pierre, his niece, Danelle Rutz and nephew, Robert Lazzari. Pete will be deeply missed and thought of often by all who have had the joy of knowing him. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted Friday morning, April 4th at 11 o’clock in Wayrynen Richards Funeral Home with Deacon Bernie McCarthy officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10 o’clock. A reception will follow at the McQueen Club.
