William Eugene "Gene" Wohlman

On September 2, 2024, while sitting in his favorite chair, by the picture window in the kitchen of his home, holding his wife’s hand Gene peacefully passed and started his new journey. Gene was born to Bud and Jeanne Wohlman, Friday, July 21, 1944 and Lewistown, Montana. Gene spent his early childhood days in Harlowton, while his dad was serving in the US Navy. On completion of his father’s service, his dad’s new job required him to relocate his family to, Helena, Hamilton, Anaconda and finally settling in Butte Montana. He attended St. Pat’s and St. John’s Elementary schools, graduating from Boys Central High School in 1963. Gene was a Vietnam Veteran. He proudly served his country in the US Navy on both the USS Uhlmann DD 687 and the USS Eversole DD 789 from 1963 to 1965. Gene married his high school sweetheart “the boss” Mary Carol Willoughby on May 22, 1965 at Saint Lawrence Church. During their 59 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children Todd, Troy, and Treasur. His family came first in everything, saying no, was like pulling teeth. Gene retired from the Anaconda Company after working several years as an electrician. After his retirement he continued his education at Montana Tech, graduating in 1985 with his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration. Gene loved his little community of Centerville and became a Volunteer Fireman. He served his community in this way for 45 years. Gene was kind, generous, and never knew a stranger. Our hearts are broken love and miss you! Gene is survived by his wife, Mary, Carol, son Todd (wife Chyrle and their children, Tyler, Wesley, and Bailey), daughter, Treasur (husband Shaun Dunfee, and their children Marisa and Austin); granddaughters Lace, Lynz, and Ashley Wohlman; great grandchildren Amberlie, Jackson, and Elizabeth; niece, Karen (husband, Ben Bouley, great nieces, Alyssa, Shelby, and Erynne), and his furry companion Catalina. He was preceded in death by his son, Troy, parents Bud, and Jeanne parents-in-law Marg and Cliff Willoughby, sister and brother-in-law, Marg and Don Kolman, nephew, Tony Kolman. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday morning, September 21st at 10 o’clock in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with Deacon Bernie McCarthy officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will follow in Wayrynen-Richards Community Center.
