March 28, 1929 - November 13, 2015
Mr. Adolph Otonicar passed away Friday afternoon in a Missoula hospital. He was born in Butte March 28, 1929 to Matthew and Theresa Otonicar and attended the Jefferson and Grant Schools. Adolph started working at the age of 6 milking cows and delivering the milk for Fred Martin. He was a rancher all his live and raised pigs for 63 years. Adolph also worked at Hansen Packing for many years and worked at Lisac’s service station for 27 years until his retirement. He had an impressive collection of International-Harvester tractors, trucks and equipment and loved going to junk yards, pawn shops and farm auctions to add to his collection. His main hobby was work but he did know how to play and enjoyed snowmobiling when he was younger. His biggest and most important job though was caring for his family and friends which he did with deep love and profound sincerity. Adolph married Irene Marie Flink in Butte on September 4, 1954 and she preceded him in death on February 11, 1995. Also preceding him in death was his daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Max Dierenfeldt and several siblings. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Adolph “Bo” and Linda Otonicar of Butte, sons, Kenneth Otonicar of Anaconda, Brian Dierenfeldt and his girlfriend Danette Ness of Butte, daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Jerry Carey of Butte, grandchildren: Jennifer and Jason Read of Mississippi, Jeanette and Gary McEwen of Butte, Christopher Otonicar of Butte, Stacy Carey of Great Falls, Jamie and Reed Smith of Arkansas and Jeremy and Aubree Carey of Butte. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Ellie and Ruby Carey and Zachary and Chad Read as well as his sister-in-law, Corrine Otonicar of Mesa, AZ, numerous nieces and nephews, countless good friends and his faithful companion, Coco. Deep gratitude is extended to the medical communities of Butte and Missoula for the care Adolph received and a special thank you go to the use and staff of Hilda’s Room at Community Medical Center in Missoula.
