Casey Carl Opp
January 1, 1977 - March 7, 2016
Mr. Casey C. Opp passed away of natural causes on Monday, March 7, 2016 at his home in Butte. He was born in Helena on New Year's Day, 1977. At the age of 4 he was adopted by Wes and Sandy Opp of Philipsburg. With his new family came the love and nurturing environment to help him overcome many obstacles in life. He attended schools in Philipsburg, where he participated in band, track and Boy Scouts. He graduated from Granite High School and also attended the University of Montana. Casey was small in size, but he was a giant when it came to creativity. He was very well read, loved to learn and loved the Bible. He was very musical and played the organ, guitar, clarinet and piano. He played organ at several area churches, including St. John's Episcopal Church. He was an accomplished gardener and planted a remarkable hillside garden in Philipsburg. He loved animals, loved to tinker, was amazing at assembling computer components, and sometimes traveled wherever the “wind” blew him. He loved people and loved to make people laugh by telling jokes and pulling pranks. He absolutely adored his grandfather Hunt and treasured their time together. Casey was active in the AWANA Club, many church activities and church camps, enjoyed bicycling everywhere, swimming at Fairmont Hot Springs and was always willing to help anyone at any time and when he was ready to help, he would say “Let’s Get Er Done.” He is survived by his parents, Wes and Sandra Opp of Philipsburg, sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Steven Wood of Clancy, Montana and their children, Steven Jr., Madison, Gavin and Ashlyn, foster sister, Suzannah Willems and her son James of Butte, grandmother, Blondie Mitchell of Florence, Montana and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernie and Jacqueline Hunt, and Mr. and Mrs. John Opp. .
