    Ellen Marie Docken

    September 28, 1929 - February 27, 2020

    Ellen Marie Docken passed away Thursday evening February 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at St. James Healthcare. She was born in Brunson, Minnesota, on Saturday September 28, 1929, to Oscar and Ellen Marie (Hansen) Wixsten. she was raised and educated in Minnesota, and married Fred G. Docken in Lancaster, Minnesota, in 1947. They moved to Butte in 1954, and Ellen worked at Harrington's Café, St. James Hospital, and Butte High School as a cook for 23 years, then retired. She was renowned for her HUGE cinnamon rolls. She then wont back to work as a foster grandparent at Hillcrest school as a grandma until 2017. She has many grandchildren that were not her own whom loved her dearly. Ellen was a member of the Butte Eagles Lodge, F.O.E. #11, the American Legion Auxiliary and longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Ellen loved going on long rides and was an avid people watcher. She loved relaxing at home and playing cards. Ellen was an amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, She really missed the Sunday family dinners with fried chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade cake and coffee. Her best memories were with family, friends, and joyous occasions. One thing that would always put a smile on her beautiful face, was the visits from her great granddaughter Payleigh. Preceded in death by her husband Fred Docken on June 17, 1988; mother, Marie Haugen, step-father Alfred Haugen; her sister, Marian Wixsten, her grandson Donnie Cuchine; granddaughters, Andrean Paul, Sheri Cuchine, Brittney O'Donnell, Carrie O'Donnell and two nieces, Sara Wixsten and Patty M. Wixsten. Survivors include her sons and daughters, Carolyn Osborne and Napo Jemmings of Butte, Montana, Marilyn Marhon of Fallon, Nevada, Ruth and Al Owens of Battle Mountain, Nevada, Leland Docken of Billings, Montana, Dianna Rinaldi and Larry Beagley of Butte, Montana, Darla and John Carson of Salmon, Idaho, Leon Docken of Santa, Idaho, brothers and sisters, Randy and Pat Wixsten, Marvin and Sue Wixsten, Alvin and Rhonda Haugen, Van and Robin Haugen, all of Butte; 148 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren, As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Many thanks to St. James Hospital, Dr. Thomas Frohwein, and Crest Nursing Home, for all their patience and kindness they showed towards Ellen in her time of need. Her remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning, March 4th at 10 o’clock in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery and a reception will follow in Gloria Dei Fellowship Hall.
