George J. Paul was born February 21, 1923 to Namen and Kaffa Paul in Zedae, Syria. George came to the United States when he was 9 months old. George was the youngest of five children. George attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Butte High in 1942. George excelled in track and football and was a member of the 1942 state football champions and was the last member of the Diamond Bees. In 1943 George joined the Air Force where he was an airplane and engine mechanic. After being honorably discharged from the service George returned to Butte and worked various jobs as a truck driver for Ryan Butte; a Hoistman at the Stewart and MT Con; and retired from the Operating Engineers for McKinley School. George married Beverly Trvithick and they had two daughters Judy and Terri. George and Beverly later divorced. In 1972 George married Georgia (Mickey) Hansen. They enjoyed traveling to handball tournaments and to Vegas for Pangini tournaments. George enjoyed playing handball especially when he would beat Bob. George was conducted into the Handball Hall of Fame. After retirement George took up Golf. George enjoyed going to Golf tournaments with Bob and Jim. They had many fun and exciting times. George is preceded in death by his parents Namen and Kaffa; sisters, Sister Mary Ann and Sister Rose Virginia and Victoria Paul; and his nephew John Paul; brother Kelly (sister in law Victoria), daughter Terri Paul and wife Mickey. George is survived by his daughter Judy Davis and son in law John Davis; granddaughters Stacey Comba (Shaun Comba) and Shauna Charles (Kenny Charles); great grandchildren Parker, Brooke, and Kamyrn Comba; his loving companion Roseann Beck and her daughter Robin Phillips; nephews John, Pat, and George all of Great Falls and niece Barbara Johnson of Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or to the donor’s choice. A special Thank You to Lauren, Michelle, Tonya, Andrew (AKA Danny), and staff at the Marquis. Also a Thank You to his senior companion Andy. A Memorial Mass will be conducted with Fr. Robert Hall 11AM Monday, August 17th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Inurnment of George’s cremated remains will follow at Holy Cross Columbarium with military honors.
