    Grace Marie Churchill

    May 13, 1930 - October 16, 2016

Today Grace is singing with the heavenly choir. She was born on May 13 1930, one of nine children, to James and Beatrice Bennetts at 1020 E. Galena, Butte, MT. Raised on Butte’s East Side she attended the Grant School class of 44 and Butte High Class of 48. Grace started working right out of high school at the Metals Bank until she married Neil W. Churchill Feb14 1951. They started their family in Butte and moved to Whitehall in 1964. Together they had six beautiful children. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, six sisters, and one brother. She leaves behind her six children, Jan Churchill, Bill (Claire) Churchill, Peggy (Dave) Ogan, Jeff (Kim) Churchill, all of Butte; Carol (Jim) Churchill-Dicks of Prineville, OR; Roger (Jeanette) Churchill of Bellevue, NE; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her brother Leo (Sue) Bennetts of Butte and many nieces and nephews. Grace was known for her love of baking, especially the pies that she sold at Borden’s Café in Whitehall. Family favorites were rolls, banana bread, cinnamon rolls, and pasties by the dozens just to name a few. She loved sewing for herself and her family and making endless quilts. She was active in Eastern Star in both Whitehall and Butte. She loved square dancing, dancing all around the state with many clubs. Another love of hers was her passion for singing in church choirs, cantatas, and even solos. She always sang old time songs with her kids and grandkids. She had a song for everything. Throughout the years, countless children called her “Gramma Grace” because she extended her love to families by providing in-home day care. She always had room for one more. Grace grew up going to the Columbia Gardens then taking her children there sharing her fond memories of days gone past. She will be missed by all who knew her.
