Joanne Elizabeth Wells Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Heaven has gained another angel. Joanne Elizabeth Wells passed away April 7, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Chubbuck, Idaho. Joanne was born Saturday, August 14, 1954 in Anaconda, the first of five children to George and Fran (Streifel) Calhoun. Joanne graduated from Anaconda High School in 1972 and attended Butte Vo-tech. She worked at the Court House, Anaconda Company Credit Union, Montana Muffler, AWARE and Montana State Hospital. She moved to Idaho in February 2016. She married Kirk Wells in Anaconda on July 13, 1980 and together they raised three children. They later divorced. Joanne was active in the Junior Women’s Association, served with the Anaconda PTA and coached volleyball with the Anaconda School System. She was a very crafty and creative person who created beautiful cross stitch works of art. She meticulously sewed Halloween costumes for her children and baked and cooked the world’s most scrumptious foods. Decorating the family home for each holiday was always a joyful time for her. Joanne was also The Food Network’s number one fan! Joanne was an avid cat lover and took pride in the many stray cats she fed and cared for in Idaho. Family vacations were the highlight of each year. Joanne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Amanda Wells of Pocatello, Idaho, daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Drew Steinhauer of Missoula and Kristen and Ty Cochran of Kailua, Hawaii. Grandchildren include Megan and Aaron Hendrickson and William, Mathew, Alexander and Klaus Steinhauer. Also surviving are her mother, Fran Calhoun of Anaconda, her brother, Richard Calhoun of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Linda Calhoun of Anaconda and Mark and Bonnie Calhoun of Spokane Valley, Washington, her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Steve Hendrickson of Bothell, Washington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is recently preceded in death by her father, George Calhoun who passed away just six days before her on April 1st. “Those we loved don’t go away, they walk beside us ever day…unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.” ~Author unknown
