OBITUARY FOR JOHN K. TONGATE August 21, 1967 - December 13, 2024 Friday the 13th at 9:35am John was called Home. He was surrounded by so much love as he made his transition from Earth to be back with his Heavenly Father. He is finally at peace. He is no longer in pain. He is finally free. John was a proud family man. His love had no limits. There’s not a damn thing in this world he wouldn’t do for any one of his children. He was an incredible bonus dad. He was patient and earned every bit of love he received. And man was he the greatest papa any kid could ask for. His grandchildren were his light. His Joy. His greatest achievement. But his greatest love of all time was his wife Sheri. She was his first and only Love, besides the family they created and mended together. He knew from the very first moment he laid eyes on her that he was gonna marry her one day. His reason for living was for the love he shared with her. They had a great love that’s usually only seen on TV shows and Movies. The kind of love people pray for. He always said he had Her to thank for the kind of man he grew into. They taught us all what true love looks like. That you should always marry your best friend. He pretended to be a hard ass but had the biggest heart full of kindness. From helping the elderly with handyman services. Saving a Sex Trafficked victim over the road. Donating food to families in need. He wasn’t just a dad to his kids. He was a dad to every wayward kid he came across. He was the strongest man we all knew. He had a hard childhood. Dealt one of the worst hands and ended up making something so incredibly beautiful out of it. But man did he LIVE. He made the most out of every situation. Always said “you can’t appreciate the good without the bad” He was a hard worker. That man worked hard until he physically couldn’t… then would get pissed off that his body wouldn’t cooperate and would have other people do the job for him. He was a teacher, a handyman, a blue collar worker, a truck driver, a mechanic, a contractor, and so much more. Our lives are better for having known his love and our hearts will miss him forever. John is survived by his loving wife Sheri Tongate, daughter Mindy (Andrew) Schubert, son Michael (Kara) Zingelewicz, son Joshua (Brianna) Tongate, and daughter Kaley (Keaton) Ball. Grandchildren: Serrenity, Neveah, Johnny, Jerrik, Pierce, Archer, Kalem, Kaliope, Jade and Henry. Many nieces and nephews he treated as his own. A Celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date TBD
