Michael E. "Mick" Hinch

Michael E. “Mick” Hinch passed away Tuesday at his home in Butte. He was born in Butte, Tuesday, March 14, 1950 to Milton and Ethel (Newgard) Hinch. Following the death of his father when he was two, Mick was raised by his mother and step-father, Michael Schneider. He graduated from Butte High School in 1968, attended MSU in Bozeman the following year and then served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer on the USS Kretchmer. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Butte and attended Montana Tech in 1971 and 1972. Mick worked at many jobs and was an incredibly talented handy man. He built his own house. Mick worked as a carpenters’ helper, a gas station attendant, warehouseman for the ACM, and a letter carrier for the USPS from 1972 until 1987. He also worked as an insurance agent, car salesman, handy man and casino attendant at several local establishments. He worked as a boiler technician and maintenance man at the Country Club Manor as well as the Willow Creek School. He also belonged to the Naval Reserves until 1986. Mick is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ethel Schneider and brothers Tim Hinch and Ken Schneider. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Melissa Schneider and David and Sally Hinch of Butte, niece and nephew, Zack and McKenzie Schneider of Butte, aunts, Marion Alexander and her family and Sherry and Jerry Berger of Kalispell as well as several cousins. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date and will be announced. Entombment will take place in Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Shrine Hospital for Children.
