Arthur Francis Hruska

Arthur Francis Hruska, beloved husband, father, grandfather and neighbor, passed away September 7, 2025 at Saint James Hospital in Butte, Montana, with family at his side. Art was born in Lewistown, Montana, son of Charles V. Hruska and Dagney M (Nelson) Hruska on September 30, 1928. A proud native Montanan, his maternal and paternal grandparents were pioneer settlers of Fergus County. He grew up in Lewistown, graduating from Lewistown High School. He then joined the Navy during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in San Diego and then Barber Point, Hawaii. After returning home, he attended Billings Business College, graduating in 1954. While studying there, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Allen of Terry, Montana. They were married on October 30, 1954. Art worked for Sohio Petroleum company until he transferred to the Montana Power Company in 1960. The power company transferred him to Butte in 1968, and he and Dorothy moved their growing family. As they continued to raise their two sons, David, and Keith in Butte, Art became active as a Boy Scout Leader. Art eventually retired as manager of the purchasing department in 1988. He and Dorothy continued to make Butte their home for the rest of his life. Art was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, as well as the Masonic and Shrine organizations. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Order. He was also a member of the local Exchange Club. Art and Dorothy also enjoyed traveling; in addition to RV camping and trips to visit their children and grandchildren, some especially notable trips were a cruise to Alaska to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary -which they took along with their children and grandchildren- and a cruise to Hawaii where they met up with son David and Suzanne just after they had become engaged. Art is survived by his wife, Dorothy and their two sons David Hruska and his wife Suzanne, and Keith Hruska and his wife Helen, by his granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, Zack Styren and Tonya Carpenter, and Kate Hruska, and by grandson Peter Hruska, and by great-granddaughters Emily and Andrianna Carpenter, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Charles. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 12 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Butte, Montana, with the Reverend Karolee Larson officiating. Reception following services will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church memorial fund, to the Baghdad Shriner’s Children’s Hospital transportation fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
