Robert Stuart Kruger

Mr. Robert S. Kruger passed away Monday morning at his residence. Butte. Bob was born in Anaconda, Montana Thursday, March 23, 1939 to John and Doris (Perry) Kruger. The family moved to Butte the following year and Bob attended local schools, including Boys Central. He served his country in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Butte where on May 13, 1959 he began his 39½-year career with the Montana Power Company. Bob retired in January of 1998. Following his retirement he worked at Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home. Bob was a member of the VFW, the Terra Verde Volunteer Fire Department, Aldersgate United Methodist Church and spent every Tuesday and Thursday working out at the YMCA. Bob was a 40-plus-year member of the Butte Elks, served as election judge for many years and enjoyed his weekly drives around southwest Montana. Bob could strike up a conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. Bob married Carol Lyn Cardigan in Butte on Oct. 9, 1971, and she passed away Feb. 9, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Paul James Kruger; his parents, John and Doris Kruger; Carol’s parents, James and Leona Cadigan; his brother, Paul Kruger; and sister and brother-in-law, Dottie and Tubie Johnson. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bill Tresidder; granddaughters, Addisyn and Allisyn Tresidder; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Dick DeBernardis, and Kathy and Glen Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Charlotte Kruger, sister-in-law, Marcia Cadigan; numerous nieces and nephews including Paula, Brenda, Michael, Rhonda and Doug, Lori Ann and Bill, and their families, Nancy and Wayne Cadigan, Cindy and Paul Smith, Ken Cadigan, Dan Cadigan, Tammi and Bruce Allison and their families; as well as Carol’s aunt Marge Kutcher and their extended family, Jeff and Darlene Beckett, Will and Jill Johns, Manley and Jeanine Stallings and Reid and Jennifer Kotchel and their families. He will also be missed by his faithful grand-dog, Mr. Gruper. Memorials may be made to the Shodair Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 5539, Helena, MT 59604 or the Montana Tech Nursing Department.
