Sandra F. Robison

Sandra Frieda Graves Robison was born in Braggs, Oklahoma, on August 30, 1936, to 2 schoolteachers. She was the first of 4 girls. They spent their early years in a rural setting where their dad, Troy had a large garden, a few cows and a creek nearby that provided many adventures for the girls. Troy and Purna eventually settled their family in Wichita in the early 1950’s. Sandra completed high school in just 3 years and then went to Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska but returned later returned home and completed her secondary science education degree at Wichita State University. She met Jack Allen Robison from Sioux Falls, South Dakota at Union College in Lincoln when she went to visit her sister Kaye who was also attending college there. Jack and Sandra were married 10 months after their first meeting and just 10 months after that their first child, Dixon, was born. The family initially lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota but moved to Nebraska where Jack finished his degree and where their second child, Jaime was born. In 1964, they moved to the Hoopa Indian Reservation in California where Jack and Sandy both taught. Yuba City in Northern California then became their permanent family home in 1967 where they both were educators, Sandra teaching science for 25 years. After many years of Jack working in the swimming pool construction business during his summers off, he decided to quit teaching and opened Robison Pools, building pools and selling pool supplies. Sandy retired from teaching several years later to manage and run the business. In 1994, when Jack’s health prevented him from continuing building pools, they moved to Butte, MT and Sandy became the office manager of Advanced Dermatology, Dixon’s medical practice. She continued this until 2007 when she retired at age 71. She and Jack enjoyed these years immensely living in the Highlands on Lime Kiln surrounded by the beauty of nature which she took much pleasure in, snow shoeing in the winter, hiking in the summer and having friends and family visit and sharing with them the Montana they loved. In 2013, Jack’s health continued to decline, and he was told that living at 6500 feet elevation was not compatible with his weakening heart. Ontario, Oregon, where the elevation is 2100 and where his recently widowed sister, Laurel resided was their next home. Once again, they were very involved in their local church and enjoyed their time there but deeply missed the mountains. Jack died in 2019. Sandy then moved to Angwin, CA in the Napa Valley to live with her daughter Jaime and her family for several years. In March of this year, she fell and needed hip/femur surgery. Following Rehab, she was able to move to the memory care facility at “The Springs” in Butte until her passing on July 5th. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, parents Troy and Purna Paris Graves, sisters Kaye Owens, and Karen Didrickson, and nephew, Chris Didrickson. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Dixon and Toni Robison, daughter and son in law, Jaime and Jeff Herman, grandchildren Addie (Paul) Karch, Seth (Kelly) Cornell, Alexii (Shane) Rummel, Lee (Riki) Robison, Andrew (Clara) Cornell, Lauren (Quinn) Dennehy, Tanner (Rosendo) Robison, Jessalyn (Danielle) Herman, Josie (Dylan) Browning, Jerica (Alejandro) Herman, and Jalexis Herman, great-grandchildren Sloan, Brooklyn, Lex, Elijah, Harlyn, Bee, Atlas, Huxley, and Mollie, sister Linda (Bob) Brown, brother-in-law Ed Owens, sister-in-law Laurel Matthews and several nieces and nephews. With gratitude, we thank the administration and the caregivers at The Springs, Honeybee Hospice and Dr. Yates for their compassionate care for Sandra during her time there. Services will be at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2500 Grand Avenue, Butte, MT, on August 28, 2026, at 11:00 with a reception to follow. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3010 11th Avenue North, Billings, MT 59101 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
